First PBST Leadership Development Programme
The inaugural PBST Leadership Development Programme got under way at the PBYM Centre in Mardyke House on Wednesday 8th November. Twenty teachers are participating in the 2017 Cork programme programme while a smaller group will participate in the Bray programme early in the new year. The programme will be delivered by the PBST CEO and a number of directors and by experienced school leaders – all of whom are either serving or retired principals. The programme is essentially an introduction to leadership studies and will cover areas such as leadership theory, leading learning and teaching, managing the school year, promoting the caring school, and leading the PBST school in the Edmund Rice tradition. Each of the six modules will link to separate elements of the PBST Charter and to the interview competency process. Participants will also complete a school-based research project in the new year. The PBST Board of Directors commends these teachers who have taken on the demands of participating in the programme after a day’s work in school and are hopeful that many or, indeed, all of these teachers will go on to take up leadership positions at various levels in their schools.
