Induction Seminar for new staff members
(Posted Jan 2023) Eighteen teachers, SNAs and support staff who have been appointed to PBST schools since the start of eh school year gathered in Mardyke House on Wednesday 25th January for an induction seminar to explore what it actually means to work in a school with a Presentation ethos. The seminar focused on the traditions of Presentation education, the PBST Charter and on the many ways in which the characteristic spirit of Presentation education is brought to life in our schools. PBST Chairperson, Carmel Murphy, welcomed the new staff members and spoke to them about the purpose and ongoing work of the trust. Brother Martin Kenneally and Brother Simon Fernandes then spoke about the history of the Presentation Congregation’s involvement in education both in Ireland and in many other places throughout the world. They also provided information on some of the activities of the Brothers’ LEAF Project which encourages leadership and faith formation in young adults. Trust CEO, Mick Sexton, explored the PBST Charter and invited the participants to share their thoughts on those aspects of the Charter that particularly resonated with the audience. After a short coffee interval, school principals Eoin Fitzpatrick and Padraig Mac an Rí demonstrated how the activities that take place in our schools at primary and secondary level respectively bring the Charter to life in our school communities. The new staff members responded very positively and hopefully left with a much deeper appreciation of our unique Presentation ethos.
