Induction Seminar 2019
Nineteen teachers, SNAs and support staff from six PBST schools attended the latest induction seminar for newly appointed teachers held at Mardyke Houe on Wednesday 13th February. Following a brief introduction given by Michael Sexton, CEO of PBST, and a reflection read by Brother Bede, presentations were given by Carmel Murphy, Director PBST, on the history, structure and purpose of the trust, by Brother Bede on the Presentation tradition in education, and by Michael Sexton on the PBST Charter. Following a short break, further presentations were given by Jema Halpin and Aisling Mulherrin on the work of the Presentation Brothers Youth Ministry, by David O’Kelly (Principal, Bunscoil Chríost Rí) on bringing the ethos to life at primary level, and by Aelín O’Donoghue and Sharon Gillane (of Presentation College) on turning the ideal into reality at second level. Participants were invited to share their experience of the Presentation tradition in their schools and welcomed as members of the wider Presentation family. There were also a few good laughs along the way and a few lucky people even went home with a few boxes of chocolates and bottles of wine! PBST thanks the participants for attending the seminar and wishes them well in what we hope will be long and fulfilling careers in PBST schools.
